TM2p spindle nose from table distance

$

Good afternoon. I've been searching the threads but have not found an answer. I just purchased a used Tm2p. Had a machine inspection done it's good to go. But they did not ship the machine with the Z at its lowest point. It needs to fit through a standard 84inch tall garage door. I understand I need to remove regen coil and junction box to get it to fit. BUT

I need to lower the Z axis by hand, but dont want to go to far and have it fall off the ball screw. Does anybody have an idea of what the distance is from spindle nose, to table with the Z axis at the lowest point ? Thank you for your time.

Invert Skip on NGC

Simple question: how does one set the Invert Skip parameter on the Next Generation Control, on a Haas TM-1 machine?

On my old machine (Classic Control), I would set parameter 57, bit 23.

I am using 3rd party probes, not Renishaw. It has been working fine for years.

2007 Haas TM2 wiring question- Please Help

Hello everyone. First tim here. I have a Haas TM2 mill and the Jog Wheel ( MPG WHEEL) has gone bad. I ordered a brand new one and it is arriving tomorrow. When I took off the controller back cover off I noticed a connector with two wires hanging and not being connected to anything. Not sure if it was that way or got knocked loose while removing the cover. I tried to see where it would plug in but I can’t really tell. I was wondering if anyone had the same machine as I do and maybe take a peak and let me know if theirs are hooked to anywhere.i am attaching few pictures to show you tha wires that I am questioning. Thank you for any help that you can provide. I have a job that needs to go out and Haas can’t send anyone here until “after the new year”..

Haas 2006 Minimill TRP solenoid issue

Hey all, first post here after doing some searching with no luck.

My 2006 Haas Minimill starting giving me fits a few days ago. As soon as I power on the machine the TRP solenoid (to release the tool) partially activates bleeding off a lot of air and makes a lot of racket. I get an intermittent "Tool Unclip" message on the control but no alarms/error messages.

What I've tried so far:
checked the voltage to the solenoid and am only reading about 85 volts.
When I press the tool release button I get a sluggish release action.
Air pressure appears to be correct (90psi).
I unplugged and applied 120vt directly to the solenoid and got a normal tool release action.

In some of my searching I came across the Haas "Tool Release Piston (TRP) - Troubleshooting Guide"
In this guide it gives a parameter 71 value of 111000. Mine was set at 12000. I altered this value to 111000 with no change in behavior.

Anybody have any suggestions? I cannot figure out why the solenoid would be getting voltage (much less incorrect voltage) when no tool change is being called.

Quick clip showing the issue.

Thanks for any help you might have

No warning. No alarm.

Anyone else experience this phenomenon? The canister and manifold are both destroyed. It appears to be the same canister and manifold used for the coolant screen.

Motor and gearbox maintenance without forklift

My older VF3 (1993) started making a bunch of noise in high gear and it sounds like a bearing. I need to pull the motor and gearbox off of the machine, but I don't want to break my back trying to hulk it off the machine and also don't have enough room to get a forklift back there.
I have high ceilings and there's no support over the machine to hang a chain off of.

Does anyone have any creative lifting solutions for this?

VF-2: How to tell if a 2015 is a next gen control or not?

I'm looking at buying a used 2015 VF-2. To me who doesn't have experience with Haas machines, the past gen machine and the new one look identical. I know 2020 machines are adding a touchscreen now, but apart from that what are some tell tale signs that the controller is a 2015+ compared to a 2014 and older?

Here is a photo of the controller of the machine I'm looking at:

Grease interval change locked out?

Just finished servicing my VF3 due to clogged grease lines. Machine doesn't run continuously, or even daily, and as a result I wanted to reduce the time interval for the grease injection cycle from 8 hrs to 4 hrs. Went in to do so and the controller is telling me the function is locked. System key is unlocked, makes no sense to me.

Has anyone else had issues changing parameters on older machines like this? It's a 2011 VF3SSYT, classic controller. I have read that some people noticed this on the newer NGC's but on older machines I don't see/read this being an issue.

Any insight, besides calling Haas that is?

Adding air blast to tsc?

Has anyone added a through tool air blast to their machine after the fact? DIY?
I have tsc and would love to add a through spindle air blast option for steel hsm cutting and for cleaning cycles.

Would this be easy? Or would I wreck the mechanical seal or backfired into the coolant?!?

I would love any input on this
If I do this I will document to help others

On another note.
Running high speed hsm lathe the chips come off hot! Anyone have tips on them not melting/damaging the axis cover seals?

Haas VF2 tool release piston noise?

Recently I noticed the VF2 at our shop was making a weird noise while changing tools. It almost sounds like there is water in the tool release solenoid or perhaps the air muffler is submerged in water. Spindle is clamping tools fine. The mill is a 2018 8.1k rpm 30hp inline spindle VF2.
Can’t quite trace down the noise yet, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

2005 Haas EC400 Horizontal – grid shift A-axis

$

Hey there,
Does anybody have a procedure for setting the A-axis grid shift (should be B-axis, but my machine came set up as A-axis from new for some reason). The procedure I have found say what do for the linear axis, but do not have any specific examples for the A-axis. The issue is that when I go to take a reading on the POS screen to do the required calculations, it doesn’t say what to do with the A-axis as it is in degrees, not a linear value. I spoke to my Haas dealer and they can’t make it to my shop for 2 weeks and will not release the procedure for some reason as they say it’s proprietary. I’m so pissed with their responses and lack of urgency in letting my machine sit idle for 2 weeks.
Thanks in advance…

Haas control randomly beeping, 1093 Probe Fail

$

Over the past couple of days, my 2012 Haas VF-2 has been making beeping sounds as if its buttons are being pressed, even though there is nobody operating the machine. The beeping is inconsistent - sometimes it will beep like crazy for a few seconds, then it may go silent for several minutes, or beep once a minute, etc. I went ahead and pressed all the buttons several times, in case one of them was being pushed in and making contact with the control. This didn't help. I've been trying to look for patterns and potential causes. On Friday I noticed that it didn't seem to beep for the first hour or two of the day, before it went back to making random beeps for the rest of the shift. On Monday, after the machine had been off for two days, I heard maybe one or two beeps during the first half of the day... then it was back to business as (un)usual.

The good news was that this didn't lead to any actual issues with operating the machine itself. Or so I thought. The Renishaw spindle probe has stopped working, alarming out with a "1093 Probe Fail" every time it tries to touch off a surface. Changing the batteries, recalibrating the probe, and making sure nothing was obstructing the signal didn't help. So I can't help but think that maybe the two issues could be related. If I can fix the beeping first, I can eliminate that as a potential cause for the probe issue, before troubleshooting the probe further.

GPD503 - Faulty. Need help rebuilding/fixing

Hello all!

My friend has a Haas mill, his GPD 503 posted an error (CPF04). Error indicated to reset the drive to factory parameters. Which I did. But as I was re-inputting the parameters it would freeze up. (as in keying inputs resulted in no change) So I would power cycle, and upon power cycle it was dead. It would not turn on until next day.

next time I just let the drive sit while on, and after a few minutes it would freeze up, I would power cycle and then dead and not power up until next day.

Seems like a capacitor type issue. But I am not sure

I have fixed older fanuc spindle drives before with help of this forum and hoping for the same here.

Anybody here rebuild these things?
Any input on how I may resolve this issue?

H&T agreement + probing

I want to turn H&T code agreement off to use the whole tool table on my CM-1, but does that break tool probing? The parameters for P9023/P9853 seem to only have the Tool number, not a length or diameter offset into the table, so both measuring and break detection wouldn't work? I am not opposed to writing new macros, just hoping I am missing something and they aren't needed.

thanks in advance for all your responses. I've been lurking for about a year just soaking up info as fast as I could along with the help of YouTube to follow the different threads.

I'm having issues getting my 2005 Haas SMM1 to read and write the files... I get a "FP ERROR= -9" alarm

I have a 1GB USB that I have formatted to FAT 32 and partitioned the drive as well.

don't know what could be the problem, I've tried multiple USB sticks same problems.

Any help would be greatly appreciated..

almost to the point of trying to do USB to DB25 (Rs232) cable to drip feed, however I'm going to be doing mostly production work and I've read that its not really an optimal scenario for doing production work.

Thanks, Rizo

How do I get M0 signal from Haas NGC during Machine Monitoring?

I am a system Integrator of CIMCO-MDC.
My customer has a Haas Machine without RS-232.
The machine has LAN Port.
I have used CIMCO-MDC software to monitor the machine's status.
It works fine.

But, when the operator puts the machine in halt condition, by M0 in Auto mode, I
am not able to get that state from the Ethernet port.
The MDC system still shows me IN CYCLE status.

Is there a way out to get this state?
